"Seeing the progress of every route in real time saves a lot of time each day and makes the work easier."
About Die Grüne Kiste
Die Grüne Kiste, founded in 1996 on the Demeter estate Gut Wulfsdorf, is a long-established organic delivery service. It supplies private customers, companies, schools and other public institutions in Hamburg, the eastern Hamburg surroundings (Kreis Stormarn) and the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. Around ten delivery drivers are out every day bringing the organic boxes to customers. The logistical effort at Die Grüne Kiste is immense.
One programme for route planning
Before xRouten, Die Grüne Kiste had tried several other route-planning programmes. They were either not flexible enough to capture all the important data, or had no integrated mobile app for colleagues out on the road.
"Seeing the progress of every route in real time saves a lot of time each day and makes the work easier."
Die Grüne Kiste saw in xRouten the potential and the right approach to solving the problem — even though a few features were still missing back then.
"Since we started working together, the team has taken on every feature that makes the work easier."
How Die Grüne Kiste Hamburg uses the route planner
Die Grüne Kiste uses xRouten as the central instrument for all planning and documentation. "The route planner gives us not only a good overview of our routes, but also a comprehensive view of delivery progress in real time."
The key features that make the difference for Die Grüne Kiste:
- Easy import of addresses: "The import is very flexible. It is enough to simply paste the addresses in."
- Flexible adjustment of stop locations: "We can adjust individual stops easily with the mouse. That helps the drivers get to the right customer quickly, without spending ages looking for the entrance or similar."
- Live view of driver locations: "When customers call, there is nothing better than the real-time view. One glance at the monitor tells us who is where and when."
- Mobile app for drivers: "Out on the road you no longer need paper. You simply follow your route and even capture proof of delivery including photos directly in the app. That makes the whole process far more efficient and transparent."

Results and outlook
Since introducing xRouten, Die Grüne Kiste has achieved the following improvements:
- Reduced planning time
- No more paper out on the road
- Shorter onboarding time for staff
- Faster answers to delivery status enquiries
Die Grüne Kiste sees xRouten as part of its logistics in the future as well. "The system is constantly evolving. We look forward to continuing to use xRouten."
